The .7z file format is a file format for archive files and is used as standard by the 7-Zip software. Similar to .zip or .rar, a 7z archive contains one or more compressed files. Internally, the so-called LZMA ( Lempel-Ziv-Markow algorithm ), which can have a high compression rate, is used at 7z.
