All about XCF files

XCF is the standard file format of the free graphics software GIMP (Gnu Image Manipulation Program). Much like the .psd files obtained by Adobe Photoshop .xcf files get information about the various levels, channels, paths, texts and so on. Exporting or converting a .xcf file to another graphic format will result in this information being lost and unmanageable. To replace the "finished" image or the finished graphics you should convert .xcf files into another format. As a suitable format, the conversion to .jpg files is recommended if they are images, or the conversion of .xcf to .png in the case of graphics or transparencies.
