All about ORF files
ORF (Olympus RAW Format) is the proprietary RAW image format used by Olympus cameras. Like many other RAW formats, it is based on the TIFF container. It stores raw sensor data, leaving all post-processing options open.
Olympus introduced the ORF format back in 2000 with the Olympus E-10. Even following the sale of the camera division in 2020, cameras under the OM System brand name continue to use the ORF format.
Technical details of the ORF format:
The structure of ORF is similar to TIFF, but uses different signatures depending on the camera model. ORF files begin (magic) with MMOR, IIRO or IIRS. IFD 0 contains the main image, IFD 1 a 160 x 120 pixel preview. (libopenraw)
