All about PPSX files
PPSX stands for PowerPoint SlideShow and is the presentation format for current PowerPoint files. Unlike PPTX files, SlideShow files open directly into the slide show view without first switching to PowerPoint’s editing mode. This format is therefore particularly suitable for finished presentations that are intended solely for viewing.
Technical Structure
Technically, PPSX and PPTX have identical structures. Both are based on the Office Open XML (OOXML) standard, which was introduced with Microsoft Office 2007. As with all Office formats ending with an "X" in the file extension, these are ZIP archives containing structured information in XML files. In the [Content_Types].xml file, "Presentation.main" is specified for PPTX, while "Slideshow.main" is specified for PPSX files.
Editing PPSX Files
To edit PPSX files, you can open the file in PowerPoint via the "Open File" dialog. Alternatively, file-converter-online.com allows you to convert PPSX to PPTX directly. In this process, all content is preserved exactly. Only the content type (see above) and the file extension are adjusted.
