JVC's proprietary HD video format for camcorders
The TOD (Transport Stream on Disk) format is a proprietary high-definition video format developed by JVC for its Everio camcorder series. It is based on the MPEG-2 transport stream and stores video in 1080i resolution using MPEG-2 compression, as well as audio in the MPEG-1 Layer 2 format. JVC introduced the format in 2007 with the Everio GZ-HD7, the world’s first consumer camcorder with Full HD recording to hard disk. By 2009, JVC had already discontinued production of TOD camcorders and switched entirely to the AVCHD format.
