All about ODT files
An odt file is a word processor document saved in the Open Document format. Open Document files are designed to be opened, shared, and edited on different operating systems, including Windows, Mac, and Linux. They will work with a large number of commercial and free word processing software and office suites, as well as online editing tools like Google Docs. The original formatting, for instance fonts, margins, and italic or bold text, is kept.
Use the odt format if you want to share a text document with friends, family, or colleagues who may not have the same software as you, especially if you want them to have the ability to edit it. You can save a document with the .odt extension from most word processors. If you don’t want your file to be edited (e.g. for applications, CVs or other documents) you should convert them to pdf.
